DJ Mortus Allen makes a Grand Debut

Mortus made his debut as SL DJ last night.

He did a great job. Honestly, I was unsure about the success of a goth night on the beach. For some reason, the two just didn't seem like chocolate and peanut butter, but I gave it a go. We had a great turnout, and the rats really showed the spirit. Most everyone showed up in their darkest, gloomiest wear. I think we peaked out at about 18 people which i believe was a great turnout for the extreme difference in music that is normally played here.

This is how I feel every morning.

Don't forget, tonight, Mortus will switch it up and spin us 80's Rock, getting back to something I know a little more about. ;)

The Pier Comes Alive

Now where was I. Ah Yes. I built The Pier initially as a way to make tier and continue building new and fun thing. It was to be a way to meet people and have a nice safe place where residents of all walks of life can come and just hangout and have fun. Initially I had 8 pier stores set up. Luxe immediately took up two with her Robots store, an awesome set of decorative and functional retro robots. And though I wasn't open yet, I continued to buy up land that was selling in Hyeoja. On April 28, 2007 I bought a 2560 plot attached to the current property, and on May 17, 2007 I purchased a 7680 within the sim. I bought up a JetSki vendor and Fishing pole vendor. I had a bar, and a dancefloor. I was fat with prims and I was ready to open.

I had my grand opening on May 26, 2007.

What a success!!! Thanks to Ella Fleury, my DJ for the day. She had some following and really got my Pier People Group started. We had about thirty some odd people show up and kept my promoter, SweetT Jubilee, and I busy. I hope to get her back playing for us again.

With word out now on The Pier, I began to pick at SweetT's brain to figure out what the next big project was to be. She suggested a waterslide. This was a little out of my rhelm of building, but hey..."Noone like a coward!" So, I started building the waterslide. Which, to date, is probably my best attraction.

160 m long and extends from one end of The Pier property to the other. It's wicked fun!!!

The rest of this story continues on in the present. I have a few more attractions now. I recently built a working hangglider and we have a cool new diving board that I purchased in the last few weeks.

I built another set of stores, called the Big Hut Stores, to help with the tier (I'm up to 1/4 sim now and the cost is killin' me), and they are starting to fill out.

I have put a new promoter on board Rayne Juran, and she's got a great spirit.

Rayne, SweetT, and Phree2Be

So if you SLife is getting stale, why not come down for some good conversation and fun FREE attractions at The Pier in Hyeoja. More to come...

This swinging cut is called Jazzana by Jaycatt Nico

Well, I guess it's been a long time comin' for me to start this blog of yet another regular guy attempting extraordinary things in Second Life. And Wow!!! What an extraordinary ride it has been.

A little background on Foxley:

I'll never forget the day I was born, and for those of you that did not spawn into the old Orientation Island, I hope you will relate. After setting up my free account the evening of November 14, 2006 and countless trifling with name combinations, I immediately downloaded the SL Client Software. I logged in and there I stood on top of that hill on OI, overlooking the short tutorial path that lay before me. Around me births of others before and after in bewilderment of the sights that lay before them, and the sound of a soothing voice, "This swinging cut is called Jazzana by Jaycatt Nico," and following…an extremely peaceful and beautiful piano piece. Aah, now the journey begins. I headed down the path to the appearance changing station, made a few quick adjustments, and continued on to the beach ball and the infamous talking parrot, then the jump across the ravine, and a TP to Help Island. After that...Well, there's a lot of information gathered by a lot of very friendly people. Learning to buy things, learning to wear things, learning to get the damn box off your head, and most of all, learning where to go and how to get there!!! And let's not forget about some of the great people I met while muddling through my noobness. And a most special thanks to Luxe Alabaster, one of my longest lasting friendships in SL. A great builder and visionary, though eaten away by RL, I miss you. But heck...that's a different story.

Pregnancy of the Pier

Skip forward to December 28, 2006. Ah...my first land: a 512 piece of property right on the ocean in a sim called Hyeoja (in which I’m positive I am still not pronouncing correctly), who could ask for more? I entitled my new found freedom from the life of a nomad, Phree Phrom Drama: A WannaBe Beachbum’s Paradise. I set up a little hut, a campfire, and a small dock. It was bliss. Relaxing, but underneath began an addiction. I soon realized that I was really getting into creating and building objects. I took classes at ASL for everything I could for a few weeks, and got some great inspiration from the instructor there. And though my creations were getting bigger, my prim limit was not (and at a 117 prim limit, I wasn’t getting very far). Thus, I knew what needed to be done…buy more land. Well, as you can guess things got a little crazy after that, 512 became 1024, 1024 became 2048, and finally 2048 became 4096.

My free piece now became a US$25.00 month habit. But…I had 937 prims to work with, a house, a workarea, a seagull, and on and on and on… What a great place to hangout! The sunset’s were great, my neighbors we cool for the most part, I have some stories like everyone else, but I bought them out as they left, hehe. Anyone who came seemed to enjoy the land, and I actually enjoyed the company.

The Birth

Sometime in April 2007, I had the idea to tear down my house and start over. It was the longest clicks of my life, the destruction of all I had built (yes…I know, it’s still in my inventory). The idea was to build an area that was fun and relaxing, attract residents who wanted good conversation and simple fun. I figured I could support my habit by giving up some of my prims to vendor rentals for a nominal fee to help me finance my tier. With the profits, I could buy new textures and scripts and objects of fun, and most importantly, more land and more prims!!!

And thus…The Pier at Hyeoja was born.
